Presidency/Dambazau: Please Call PSC to Order on Ongoing Recruitment

A whistle blower just called me to complain about an injustice that the Police Service Commission (PSC) is about to start. This country is blessed with abundant quantum of cheats that must always thwart its effort in ensuring that equity prevails among its
citizens.
The Commission is starting a nationwide recruitment exercise today but contrary to past practice where recruitment was done by local government, the Commission is doing it by state this year.
This has two implications: One, it gives Bayelsa or Gombe the same number of appointments as Kano or Lagos. Two, it gives room for officers with wicked intentions to prefer some ethnic groups over others. In the end, majority of local governments will not be represented at all.
This is the injustice that has been going on in the armed forces. In a state like Bauchi, it is very common to find that every year over 70% of the recruited comes from one small corner of the state.
Why must we always find ways of perverting justice? Why is it difficult for even the most highly placed among us to tread its path? These are the kind of things Nigerians bitterly complained against in the 16 years of PDP rule. Yet, these unrepentant perverts still have the guts to further entrench them under this government. The same PSC connived with AG Arizhe to undermine the promotions of hundreds of police officers from a section of the country. It took a long and factual foreign radio coverage and an intervention from the Presidency before those promotions were cancelled. The PSC is at it again. Why?
What kind of people are these? I wonder if people with such mindsets ever go to sleep. They must always work to create divisions and spread rancour among Nigerians. After enjoying all the training and opportunities the country can afford to make them fine officers and patriots who will promote its unity, they consistently end up with a very primitive, unrefined mindset that is filled with primordial sentiments. Their stone age hearts see nothing in Nigerians except our tribes or religions and wish nothing for people outside their tribal or religious groups except hardship, subjugation and war.
Once more, we call on the Presidency or the Ministry of Internal Affairs will intervene again. The recruitment is starting from Jigawa today. It is an urgent call, please.
Dr. Aliyu U. Tilde
